2010 - 2011 Deep End Series Announced
In the intimate setting of the BackStage Stage the Deep End Series offers work that is new, challenging and exciting for both the newcomer and the theatre aficionado. Take the plunge, you won’t regret it. As always the Deep End is not for the faint of heart as adult content and language lurk just below the surface.
Persephone Theatre is proud to announce that this season’s Deep End Series consists of three World Premieres by Saskatchewan playwrights. Three vastly different yet timely pieces, this year’s season is one of social commentary, with tongue in cheek humour, fascinating spectacle, and tour-de-four performances. From the truthful, hard-hitting funnybone of Kenneth T. Williams, to the fun and preciousness of Daniel Macdonald, and the political poetry of Mansel Robinson, this season is one you won’t want to miss.

Gordon Winter
By Kenneth T. Williams
There are many ways Gordon Winter can be described: residential school survivor, RCMP hero, life-long champion of First Nations rights, and bigot. In this topical new play by Kenneth T. Williams, we delve into the complicated history of a man who has fought oppression his entire life and yet clings unapologetically to his own prejudices.

Velocity
By Daniel Macdonald
15 year old Dot has decided to do her school project on the physics of falling objects. And what could be a better “object” than her dad, a fast ascending business man. Once she blows him out of the window of his office on the 73rd floor she figures he’s got 6 seconds before impact. Of course she hasn’t factored in her dad’s resistance, her neurotic mom, or her over-involved frenemies.
At times hilarious and at other times horrific, Velocity is the story of a precocious girl whose desperation for someone to give a sh** has leads her to extreme measures, and takes us on one wild ride.

Two Rooms
By Mansel Robinson
Murdoch is a charming, yarn-spinning old-school cop. His wife is beautiful, smart, Muslim – and a suspect. She has much to confess. So does he. Murder, betrayal, politics and terror: a love story.
