Persephone Mandate

Persephone Theatre is a professional regional theatre company with a commitment to the production of widely diversified plays from the national and international repertoire. It serves the City of Saskatoon and district, as well as the Province of Saskatchewan.

The objective of Persephone is to provide a variety of professional theatre of the highest professional quality within its service area, employing local and national talent.

Aims and Purposes

  1. In fulfilling its mandate, Persephone Theatre commits to:

    • Achieving distinction through excellence

    • Developing innovation and experienced professionals

    • Expanding its audiences

  2. Persephone Theatre consists of these organizational elements:

    • Productions: The Artistic Director chooses from the contemporary and classical repertoire. Some productions have a wide popular appeal and others are of a more provocative nature. Joint productions, script development, playwrights-in-residence, commissions, and workshops are an important part of the theatre's commitment to the Canadian repertoire.

    • Education/Audience Development: Persephone has an ongoing commitment to education and its role in audience development. Educational programs may include but are not limited to the following:

      1. Persephone Youth Tour: Presents high quality performances to children and adolescents within the City and outside school systems throughout Saskatchewan.

      2. Theatre School and School Matinées: Persephone Theatre is committed to the concept of community interaction, and the Theatre School helps to maintain a direct link with the community. The Theatre School must always be at a break-even or profit-making level.
