The newest work by Edmonton's internationally acclaimed Catalyst Theatre, Frankenstein is a delightful, lyrical adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic gothic novel. The cautionary tale of Dr. Victor Frankenstein, and the Creature he creates and then abandons, is an enduring story that has inspired many adaptations.
Catalyst Theatre's production is sure to surprise you. Visually stunning and aesthetically original, the production has been noted for the remarkable ensemble of eight actors who play some forty characters, for its haunting original melodies and its quirky and often ghoulishly humourous take on a familiar and consistently relevant story. This Frankenstein focuses on the human qualities of the characters and on our common need to feel that we can make a difference, be accepted, and to love and be loved.
Frankenstein sold out in Vancouver and twice in Edmonton. Check every previous Frankenstein experience at the door and prepare to be transported.
“One of Catalyst's most dazzling creations yet, Frankenstein rises from its literary origins to have a long life”
“Not only is Jonathan Christenson's latest work a sublime and wildly entertaining evening of Brechtian-inspired theatre as atmospheric as it is intellectually daring, this slick post-modernist musical accomplished the mean feat of giving a stupendously fresh spin to a well-trod, heck, a chestnut of a story.”
