Theatre Etiquette
Not all students will be aware of proper theatre etiquette. Please review the following with your students. Our goal is to make the live theatre experience enjoyable for everyone.
- It is very, very important to arrive on time. Actors prepare themselves to go on at a certain time, and delays are unsettling. Latecomers will be seated only at the discretion of the Front of House Manager.
- Live theatre is not like a movie theatre. Actors in live theatre can hear disturbances, and give their best performance when they feel positive energy from the audience. Appropriate laughter and applause is the best way to show appreciation. People who are disruptive may be asked to leave so others may enjoy the performance.
- A trip to the washroom prior to the performance may be a good idea. Anyone leaving during the performance may not be allowed back into the auditorium. There is one 15 minute intermission.
- Please be attentive and refrain from talking or rustling materials. Cell phones, watch alarms, etc. should be turned off. No cameras or laser pointers are permitted.
- Theatre seats are assigned by seat and row number. Assigned seats must be adhered to, unless otherwise directed by theatre staff.
- No food or drinks are allowed in the auditorium. Backpacks are not permitted in the auditorium and may be left with theatre staff.
Tours
Backstage tours of our theatre can be arranged for school groups by calling the Box Office at (306) 384-2126 prior to your performance date. A theatre tour is an excellent compliment to the school matinée and offers your students the chance to ask questions of those involved in bringing the show to life. Persephone Theatre offers this service to schools at no extra charge as part of our education mandate.
