Spirit Horse is the powerful and moving adventure of two First Nations Children, Angelina and Jesse, who are introduced to a beautiful horse by their grandfather, an elder and storyteller who lives by the old ways. Making use of the Stoney Nakoda Nation's tradition surrounding the Spirit Horse, this play allows us to follow the children as their adventure takes them through the city, country, reserve, and their own cultural and family history. With this beautiful and highly physical piece of theatre you will have the opportunity to experience elements of performance that will open your eyes to what theatre can do. This piece's treatment of the subject of cultural understanding, stereotyping, racism, and dealing with the loss of a family member is stunning and not to be missed. Directed by the writer of the original, adapted by one of Canada's best first nations playwrights, and featuring superb use of live music, this is theatre at its best and it's presented for you. |
